How to create a favicon?

First, you need to design your desired logo in 512 pixels and then save it with either .jpg, .gif or .png; don’t forget that favicon is a square image. Also, WordPress will automatically resize your image to either 32*32 or 16*16.
Adding favicon to WordPress with WordPress Customizer
After update 4.3, WordPress allows its users to change the favicon in the admin dashboard. The first step is to log in to your WordPress dashboard, find “Appearance” and click on “Customize”.


Once you are there click on “Site Identify”. This section allows you to change your website title that is displayed in browsers. In addition, you can add or change your WordPress favicon. Under “Site Icon” click on “Select File” so you can upload your desired favicon. After uploading the image you can crop it to make it look better. Finally, click on “Save and Publish”.
Adding favicon to WordPress using a plugin
Other than the fact that in many themes (version 4.3 and above) you can add your favicon, you can also use plugins to change WordPress favicon. This method is considered the easiest way to add the favicon to your WordPress website.
